from the North of England

The ritual dance of rapper is asword dance where the rhythms are fast and lively . There are five dancers dancing, and the foot steps of their shoes, swords, form new ways to make different types of choreographic figures that are used at the same time.Participants in this workshop will learn the stepping, the figures and how to make a dance. The workshop will cover history of this dance genre and cultural context and characteristic described by the Jeremy Carter-Gordon. Bring hard sole shoes, so if you are able, and be willing to try this traditional dance and enjoy the fun.

Jeremy Carter-Gordon (Concord,Massachusetts, USA, 1989)
From Boston, Massachusetts (United States) Jeremy is a dance teacher and researcher. He grew up with traditional dance, music and songs and just graduated from Bard College, with a degree in Ethnochoreology.

He has danced on and founded several sword-dance groups and one of his teams won “Best Display Dance at DERT, a dance contest that is held in Great Britain. After his university studies, he is traveling through Europe learning about the the sword-dances of different countries. Specifically, “Hilt-and-Point”or “handle and the tip of the” sword-dance. He will visit several regions of Europe to see local sword dance until August of 2012.
